PLT Prepares for Spring Conferences

By PLT Staff

PLT National Staff are gearing up to exhibit and present at several conferences this spring. We hope you’ll visit PLT this upcoming conference season at one (or more!) of the following events:

National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) National Conference
Boston, MA ~ March 27 – 30, 2008
PLT will conduct six sessions to introduce the Forests of the World, Biotechnology, and Places We Live secondary modules, as well as the Technology Connections highlighted in the PreK-8 Guide.

National Youth Leadership Council (NYLC) Conference
Minneapolis, MN ~ April 9 – 12, 2008
PLT will conduct one session to describe the GreenWorks! service-learning grant program, as well as participate in a panel discussion that will explore the teaching techniques used in Exploring Environmental Issues: Places We Live.

Go-Green Expo
New York, NY ~ April 25-27, 2008
The first annual Go-Green Expo is expected to be New York city's largest environmentally-focused consumer expo.  It will feature hundreds of companies showcasing the latest earth friendly products and services, dozens of interactive seminars and speeches, an eco-film festival, an eco fashion show, and a variety of hands on demonstrations.   The American Forest Foundation is a sponsor at this event, so look for us there!

Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) Conference
New Orleans, LA ~ March 15 – 17, 2008

PLT will conduct a session entitled “Engaging Students with Powerful Environmental Learning” where participants will discuss how to use environmental education and community-based programming to involve youth in the learning process, empower them to make informed decisions, and increase academic achievement.

We hope to see you soon!
