Awards and Recognition
PLT has received numerous awards and recognition for its innovative environmental education program and curriculum.
- 2002 – PLT received "straight A's" in environmental education for elementary and high school students from the California Department of Education.
- 2001 Spirit of the Land Award from the Salt Lake Organizing Committee honoring outstanding efforts to educate people about environmental issues in all areas of society business, education, community, youth and government.
- 1999 Gold Award from the Solid Waste Association of North America for School Curricula Excellence.
- 1998 Trophy Award and Certificate from the American Society of Association Executives for Print-Based Education and Community Service Education Programs.
- 1997 Walter E. Jeske Award given to Kathy McGlauflin, national Director of Project Learning Tree by the field's professional organization, the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE). This award recognizes individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the field of environmental education.
- 1996 Outstanding National and International Service to Environmental Education from NAAEE.
- 1995 PLT received "straight A's" in environmental education for elementary students from the California Department of Education.
- 1985 President's Citation Program "Crystal Award." This award recognized PLT as an outstanding private sector initiative.
