GreenWorks!

FAQ

When are grant applications due?
All applications are due by September 30, 2012

What is the difference between the two GreenWorks! grant award levels?
The traditional GreenWorks! grants are available for any PLT-trained group of students, educators, or community members to implement environmental service-learning projects (up to $1,000).  The GreenWorks! grants available to registered PLT GreenSchools! are intended to fund and implement GreenSchools!-specific  investigation projects (up to $3,000).

Can I apply for both the traditional GreenWorks! grant and the GreenSchools! investigation project grant?
Grant applicants are welcome to submit proposals in both levels, but it is only possible to be funded in one.

How much are GreenWorks! grants for?
The maximum grant allowed is $1,000 for traditional GreenWorks! grant awards and $3,000 for registered PLT GreenSchools!

Do I have to be a school to apply for a GreenWorks! grant?
Any and all organizations, groups, centers, museums, schools, etc. that involve youth and environmental and/ or conservation education are more than welcome to apply for traditional GreenWorks! grants. However, if you are applying for the $3,000 grant award level, you must be a formal school (either public or private) and be registered as a PLT GreenSchool!

I haven't attended a PLT workshop, can I still apply?
Applicants must have attended OR be registered to attend a PLT workshop at the time of the application deadline.  You can contact your PLT State Coordinator to inquire about PLT workshops scheduled in your area.

How do I find and/or attend and/or register for a PLT workshop?
PLT workshops are organized on a state-by-state basis. Contact your local PLT State Coordinator to register for a workshop in your area. Call 202-463-2475 or visit the PLT In Your State website to obtain their contact information.

What can be used toward the required 50% "matching funds"?
The two most common type of “matching funds” include material donations and volunteer time. You can also use other committed funds (such as from other grants or fundraisers) or individual private donations.
