GreenWorks!GreenWorks! is the community action, service-learning component of PLT, built around action projects that partner educators, students, and communities. GreenWorks! blends service activities with the academic curriculum and addresses real community needs as students learn through active engagement.GreenWorks! environmental action projects link classroom learning and the real world. By combining the environmental knowledge and resources of PLT with community action initiatives, GreenWorks! action projects make a difference in how young people think, in their sense of responsibility toward their communities, and in their understanding of their relationship to the environment. PLT provides a guidebook with practical pointers for getting a GreenWorks! project off and running. You can also apply for a GreenWorks! grant to help get you started on your project. Many PLT activities in both the PreK-8 and secondary curriculum guides lend themselves to GreenWorks! projects. GreenWorks! projects are fun, benefit the community, and, perhaps most importantly, reinforce the learning that takes place in the classroom.
