Are you interested in using PLT materials? You can get a copy of the PreK-8 Activity Guide, Energy & Society Guide, or Secondary Modules by attending a professional development workshop. State and country sponsors organize all PLT workshops through a network of coordinators and facilitators. In the United States, more than 70 coordinators work with a cadre of over 2500 volunteer facilitators to offer workshops in their local communities.
There are different types of workshops offered to meet a variety of professional development needs. These workshops include: educator, advanced, and train the trainer leadership.
Educator Workshops
Educator workshops are open to anyone, held at convenient times, and are free or offered at a nominal charge. Through PLT workshops, you can:
Learn how to incorporate PLT's activities into your current and future lesson plans and curriculum
Meet other professionals in your area interested in environmental education
Become part of a network that offers you follow-up resources and opportunities
PLT works because of facilitators across the country that train educators to use PLT materials. Through PLT facilitator workshops you will:
Learn how to conduct PLT workshops
Gain leadership skills
Gain knowledge of environmental education
Learn about and make contacts in your community
If you are interested in becoming a PLT facilitator, check the Calendar of Events for upcoming workshops near you or contact your state coordinator to learn more.
Advanced Workshops
Many state coordinators and facilitators offer advanced workshops for trained PLT educators. Advanced workshops are generally theme based, providing participants an opportunity to cover a particular environmental issue in depth.
