Educators will be introduced to a variety of nationally-developed resources that support authentic learning as well the Projects WILD, WILD Aquatic and Learning Tree (secondary modules). Training will include using a project-based learning model and field investigations to create relevant learning opportunities for students that support the Iowa Core. Trainers will work with educators to incorporate activities from the Projects into inquiry-based learning cycles and to develop real field investigations with their students. Educators will be encouraged to develop site based projects to study and/or improve their local natural resources. This can include service learning opportunities like Trees for Kids, IOWATER, NatureMapping, Wildlife Diversity monitoring efforts, development of outdoor learning areas or habitats, and more.

Educators will be introduced to a variety of nationally-developed resources that support authentic learning as well the Projects WILD, WILD Aquatic and Learning Tree (secondary modules). Training will include using a project-based learning model and field investigations to create relevant learning opportunities for students that support the Iowa Core. Trainers will work with educators to incorporate activities from the Projects into inquiry-based learning cycles and to develop real field investigations with their students. Educators will be encouraged to develop site based projects to study and/or improve their local natural resources. This can include service learning opportunities like Trees for Kids, IOWATER, NatureMapping, Wildlife Diversity monitoring efforts, development of outdoor learning areas or habitats, and more.

8Mon | 8:00 am | Clinton PLT WorkshopThis is day of a week of environmental education workshops at Clinton Community Nature Center. For CEU purposes, each is a stand-alone workshop. One does not have to regester for the entire week, but can register for the workshop day he/she desires.
This is a six-hour workshop. It is designed primarily to teach the PLT Pre-K-Grade 8 activity guide. If High School Teachers attend, they will receive two PLT secondary modules, and one activity from one of these modules will be covered in the workshop. Pre-K and K teachers will receive an early childhood education guide and CD. This workshop qualifies for 0.6 CEU's through Mississippi College.
Participants will be given a CEU application form at the conclusion of the workshop

Network with colleagues from all parts of the state and receive educational materials to utilize when school begins in the fall.
Expert presenters from the Garrison Dam and Fish Hatchery, Audubon Wildlife Refuge, Knife River Indian Villages, Lewis and Clark Center, Fort Mandan, Cross Ranch State Park, Great Plains Synfuels Plant and the Freedom Lignite Mine will also provide resources for educators.
